St. Marys Council Opts to Withdraw from PC Connect Partnership
St. Marys Council has opted to withdraw from the PC Connect partnership, resulting in the end of PC Connect service in St. Marys effective December 31, 2026.
PC Connect was launched in 2020 and has connected residents to destinations across the region for the past six years. The service has been funded through financial contributions from PC Connect’s municipal partners, including the Town. The servicer also benefited from provincial funding, which ended in 2025.
While the Town, alongside its municipal partners, has applied for additional provincial funding to continue the service, no funding decision has been received, and existing funding expires on December 31, 2026.
Council’s decision was based on the rising municipal cost of the service and low ridership levels at St. Marys stops.
“This was a difficult decision for Council,” said Brent Kittmer, CAO/Deputy Clerk. “The Town has been committed to improving transportation options for residents. For the past six years, PC Connect has helped connect residents with destinations across the region. While we recognize the value of the service to those who rely on it, rising municipal costs, low local ridership and uncertainty around future funding made continued participation unsustainable. Council has directed staff to explore options to help address local transportation needs, particularly for specialized trips such as medical appointments, and we remain committed to finding practical solutions for our community.”
The Town thanks all riders, partners and staff who have supported PC Connect since its launch in 2020.
