St. Marys Celebrates Launch of New FlixBus Service with Ribbon Cutting

Today marked the first official day of FlixBus service in St. Marys, introducing a new intercity transportation option connecting residents to communities across southwestern Ontario and beyond. 

To celebrate the launch, Mayor Al Strathdee of St. Marys and Mayor Martin Ritsma of Stratford were joined by Andrew Miller, Director of Public Affairs for FlixBus, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Water Street South, welcoming the community’s first stop on the London–Stratford–Toronto route. 

“This is an exciting milestone for our community,” said Mayor Al Strathdee. “This new service gives residents more choice and flexibility when it comes to travel, while strengthening our connection to neighbouring communities and major transportation hubs. We’re proud to support opportunities that make it easier for people to move throughout our region.” 

Beginning today, residents can purchase tickets and travel from St. Marys to destinations including Stratford, Kitchener, Guelph, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Toronto Union Station and London. 

“When FlixBus arrived in Stratford, it was clear there was an opportunity to build on that momentum,” said Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma. “Advocating for service in neighbouring St. Marys was a natural next step, strengthening connections for residents across the region.” 

Initially, St. Marys will receive one round trip each day, with a morning departure to Toronto and a return trip in the evening continuing to London. 

As a flag service, buses will stop in St. Marys when tickets are booked. The route will operate six days a week (excluding Tuesdays) before expanding to daily service later this summer, with stops located on Water Street South near Canadian Tire and Water Street Dentistry.
