Aquatics Centre currently closed for renovations

The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024 to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend closure until fall 2025. 

Project updates and a reopening date, once confirmed, will be provided through local media, the Town website (www.townofstmarys.com), Facebook (www.facebook.com/stmarysontario) and Twitter/X (www.twitter.com/townofstmarys).

Queen St. W Culvert Replacement Project

The Town of St. Marys will soon be replacing the Bolton Drain culvert under Queen St. W. Work is scheduled to start the week of November 17, 2025. There will be a road closure that will significantly impact commute time for some residents in the area. 

A watermain needs to be moved out of the way to accommodate the new culvert structure. Watermain installation will occur on the week of November 17. There will be one day the week of November 24 where drinking water will need to be turned off to accommodate the connection of the new watermain pipe. Further details will be delivered by the Town’s operating authority to those affected.

A full road closure will start Monday, November 24 for an anticipated duration of 2.5 weeks. The Town expects to open the road on Wednesday, December 10. During that time, residents will need to drive out to Rannoch and then back in around Line 10/Line 14 to Perth Rd 130/James St. N. The road closure is inconvenient but necessary to ensure a relatively quick construction schedule before winter.  (Please refer to road closure detour map below.)

Temporary lane closures either before or after the full road closure may be implemented from time to time to accommodate specific work adjacent to the road.

Temporary asphalt will be installed to get through the winter months. Final restoration including concrete and asphalt will be completed in the spring of 2026.

If you have a student that is picked up by Murphy Buslines, they will reach out directly with specific information about pickup and drop-off during that time.
