New Sidewalk Projects Strengthen Active Transportation Connections Across St. Marys

The Town of St. Marys has completed two sidewalk extension projects that improve pedestrian connectivity and support active transportation throughout the community.

A new sidewalk has been installed on Glass Street, extending approximately 220 metres from the existing sidewalk terminus at Guest Court to provide a continuous pedestrian connection to the Junction Station Dog Park. The project creates a safer and more accessible route for residents travelling to and from the popular recreational area.

In a separate project, an additional sidewalk has been installed on Thames Road, creating a connection between the Grand Trunk Trail and Queen Street West. The new infrastructure improves access to the Town's trail network and helps connect more residents to parks, trails and other community destinations.

"These projects may be relatively small in scale, but they have a meaningful impact on how residents move throughout our community," said Austin Louwagie, Infrastructure Manager. "By filling gaps in our pedestrian network and improving connections to local amenities, we're making it safer and more convenient for people to choose active transportation."

Both projects represent ongoing investments in municipal infrastructure and enhance the level of service the Town can provide to residents. Improved pedestrian connections support accessibility, encourage active transportation, and help create a more connected community.
