From Candidates to Voters, Get Ready for the St. Marys Election

The Town of St. Marys is encouraging residents to get involved in the upcoming 2026 Municipal Election, whether by running for office, confirming their voter registration, or planning to cast a ballot. 

Candidate Information Packages Available 

Running for municipal office in St. Marys is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community. Municipal leaders help shape local spaces and services, and play a direct role in decisions around planning, infrastructure, recreation, finance, and programs that affect daily life. 

Those interested in running for municipal office can now obtain a candidate information package. Please note that Town Hall’s outdoor staircases are currently undergoing reconstruction. To arrange to pick up a package, contact the Municipal Clerk at 519-284-2340 ext. 212 or by email at clerksoffice@town.stmarys.on.ca. 

The nomination period is open until Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. 

Key Election Dates 

Nomination Day is August 21, 2026, with nominations accepted until 2:00 p.m. 

Advance Voting will be held at the Pyramid Recreation Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day from Wednesday, October 7 through Saturday, October 10, 2026. 

Election Day is October 26, 2026, with voting open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Results will be available on the Town’s website as soon as possible after the close of the polling station. The 2026 to 2030 Term of Council begins on November 15, 2026. 

Register to Vote 

Elections Ontario manages the official voter list. Residents are encouraged to confirm, update, or add their information by visiting Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration application online at RegisterToVoteON.ca or by calling 1-866-242-3025 until August 12. 

Ensuring your information is up to date helps make the voting process smooth and efficient.
