Cooling Centres and Holiday Hours for Town Facilities

With hot temperatures expected to continue through the Canada Day holiday, residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.

Please note the following hours will be in effect for Town of St. Marys facilities on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Open Facilities

  • St. Marys Museum & Archives
    11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    Open as part of the St. Marys Commemorates Canada Day event in Cadzow Park.
  • The Quarry
    11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    Visitors are encouraged to pre-register online at townofstmarys.com/quarry.
  • The Train Station
    The station will remain open. For train schedules and service information, visit viarail.ca.

Cooling Centre and Heat Relief Options

Outside of the holiday, residents can access the following locations to cool down during periods of extreme heat:

Pyramid Recreation Centre

317 James St. S.

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

St. Marys Public Library

15 Church St. N.

  • Monday to Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Rotary Splash Pad (Cadzow Park)

217 Park St.

  • Daily: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Residents are reminded to drink plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, seek air-conditioned spaces when possible, and check in on family members, neighbours and others who may be more vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
