Celebrate the change in seasons with the St. Marys Museum

The St. Marys Museum (177 Church St. S.) is celebrating the change in seasons and the start of summer weekend hours with its Summer Open House on Saturday, June 6 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. This event, which is free to attend for all ages, highlights the seasonal exhibits on display at the Museum and includes a range of activities that will appeal to visitors of all ages.

The museum will have several new and updated displays covering a range of topics, from Pride Month to St. Marys buildings and architecture. The community exhibit Far From Home: British Home Children of St. Marys will officially open on Saturday, June 6.

“We’re honoured to be able to share the stories of families whose relatives were British Home Children,” says St. Marys Museum Curator & Archivist Emily Taylor. “The submissions we’ve received have been incredibly meaningful. It’s important that this part of Canadian history is brought to light to show its impact on the local community.”

During the Summer Open House, visitors can participate in a scavenger hunt to explore the new objects on display at the Museum. Other activities include hands-on toys in the discovery school room and button making in the archives. Light refreshments will also be served.

Summer hours at the Museum are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
