Town of St. Marys rallies for the Blue Jays

The Town of St. Marys is buzzing with excitement as the Toronto Blue Jays gear up for an epic showdown in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers! After more than three decades, our beloved Blue Jays are on the brink of history, and we're rallying together to cheer them on as they chase that long-awaited championship glory.

Home to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame since 1998, the Town of St. Marys has a rich history of baseball. The first ever recorded game of baseball took place just south of St. Marys in Beachville in 1838. It was observed by St. Marys resident, Adam Ford, who later wrote about it in Sporting Life. From weekly Minor Baseball games to the annual Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the community has celebrated contributions of players and the sport’s legacy for generations.

Earlier this week, Forman Electric amped up the excitement by installing a Blue Jays sign on the side of Town Hall. This sign not only represents town pride towards the MLB team but also features the letter ‘D’ in memorial of Doug Hicks, a St. Marys resident who also shared a love for the game.  This sign lights up the night, electrifying the whole town with pride and anticipation.

"This is a special occasion in history, and the Town is proud to support and cheer for a local Canadian team," says Mayor Al Strathdee. "It's great to unite and show our Strong As Stone spirit."

Delve further into the history of baseball and explore artifacts at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. This 32-acre site with 4 ball fields, walking trails, and a museum displaying over 180 years of Canadian baseball history is a great way to learn more about the sport. The museum is currently open for pre-booked visits. Arrangements can be made by calling 519-284-1838.

To kick off the world series, The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and the St. Marys Junior Lincolns will both be hosting electric live watch parties in St. Marys on October 24, 2025. Game one of the series will begin at 8:00 p.m. Gather with fellow fans, feel the energy and cheer on the Blue Jays! Learn more about these events and future watch parties by following each organization on social media. (St. Marys Junior Lincolns Facebook, Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Facebook).

To become the championship winners, the Blue Jays must win a total of 4 games out of the series. Games will be aired (starting at 8:00 p.m.) on the following schedule:

  • Game 1: October 24
  • Game 2: October 25
  • Game 3: October 27
  • Game 4: October 28
  • Game 5: October 29 (if necessary)

The Town of St. Marys is rallying together, waving jerseys and hats, and sending positive vibes for a championship win. Let’s make some noise, bring the energy, and show the world our Stonetown Blue Jays pride! Go Jays!
