Aquatics Centre currently closed for renovations

The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024 to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend closure until fall 2025. 

Project updates and a reopening date, once confirmed, will be provided through local media, the Town website (www.townofstmarys.com), Facebook (www.facebook.com/stmarysontario) and Twitter/X (www.twitter.com/townofstmarys).

Sanitary sewer lining installation to begin on December 8

Please note that crews will be installing Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) sewer liners in several areas of St. Marys between Monday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Intermittent traffic impacts will be encountered during these times while liners are being installed which may include partial lane closures, road closures, detours, etc.

The installation(s) will be happening in the following areas:

  • Monday, December 8: Huron Street at Elizabeth Street and Park Street from George to Tracy.
  • Tuesday, December 9: Peel Street and King Street from Elizabeth to Tracy
  • Wednesday, December 10: Park Street from George to Water

Property owners in areas who will be directly affected by this work will receive an advanced notice of impending work from the Town or contractor as well will be issued a 24-to-48-hour notice of pending work by the Contractor.
