Time Capsule
In honour of Canada's 150th birthday, the Town of St. Marys is creating a time capsule to be buried near the Wellington Street Bridge. The time capsule will be re-opened 50 years from now, in 2067. The idea behind the capsule is to create a collection of artifacts that reflect the current culture of St. Marys and come from local sources.
The time capsule will be buried as part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the reconstructed Wellington Street Bridge. The date for that event will be announced as the construction project nears completion. Stay tuned to this page for further details!
List of items
From October 13 to November 10, 2017, St. Marys residents were invited to submit ideas for items to be included in the Canada 150 time capsule. A committee assessed all submissions and made selections based on a number of criteria, including size, preservability and how well the items reflects the culture of St. Marys.
Below is a list of the items that will be included in the Canada 150 time capsule. This list may be udpated as more items are confirmed.
