Event planned for 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Snapping Turtle Coffee Roasters

The Town of St. Marys is trying to brew up some buzz around its budget.

On Saturday, February 4, the Town is hosting Coffee with Council at Snapping Turtle Coffee Roasters, located in downtown St. Marys. This informal, drop-in event will run from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and is open to all residents and ratepayers.

The coffee will be free, and so will the discussion around the budget. The idea is to give taxpayers a chance to ask questions and make comments in a casual environment. Several members of Council are planning to attend, including Mayor Al Strathdee.

“We invite all residents to come down, have a hot drink, and chat about the budget,” said Strathdee. “This is also a great opportunity to get to know your Councillors and meet senior municipal staff."

Past Coffee with Council events have been held at Town Hall. Moving the event to a Saturday morning at Snapping Turtle is an opportunity to promote a local business, while making the event more accessible and less formal.

“We hope that this event will attract residents of all ages and backgrounds,” said Strathdee. “We thank Snapping Turtle for sharing their space and look forward to great conversations over a great cup of coffee.”
