Current Opportunities

Recreation Summer Camp Leaders in Training

Do you enjoy working with children? Do you want to give back to your community and learn leadership skills that will help you with future jobs? Volunteers are welcome at the Kids Klub Camp and Wet 'n Wacky Morning Camps programs in July and August. Hours can count towards required high school volunteer hours.

Requirements

  • Must be 12 years of age or older
  • Must be willing to follow direction
  • Should have a high energy level and feel comfortable working with children.

Hours vary between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours are also based on your availability.

Summer Reading Club Booth

Responsibilities: registering children for the Summer Reading Club, talking to children about the books they have read, maintaining records and files for club members
Times: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday or 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday Thursday
Volunteers Needed: 1-2 for each session

One-to-One Reading Help

Responsibilities: reading with children, running basic literacy activities with children, helping children develop and improve basic reading skills, working with children 4 - 12 years of age.
Times: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. or 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday Wednesday, Thursday
Volunteers Needed: 3-5 each session
Requirements: Attend training before club starts, patience, commitment to chosen time

Kids R.O.C.K. Jr.

Responsibilities: assisting the Summer Reading Club Co-ordinator with group, providing supervision to children involved in the programme, providing leadership of activities with children ages 4 - 8.
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Monday
Volunteers Needed: 2-3

Craft Day

Responsibilities: assisting Club Co-ordinator with group of children, provide supervision and leadership to children ages 4 - 12, assist children with crafts and aid Club Co-ordinator in clean up
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday
Volunteers Needed: 2-3

Kids R.O.C.K.

Responsibilities: assisting the Summer Reading Club Co-ordinator with group, providing supervision to children age 9-12 involved in the programme, providing leadership of activities with children.
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Wednesday
Volunteers Needed: 1-2

Story Makers

Responsibilities: assisting the Summer Reading Club Co-ordinator with group, providing supervision to children age 8-12 involved in the programme, providing leadership of activities with children, foster a creative environment.
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Thursday
Volunteers Needed: 1-2

Summer Events

Assisting with ticket sales, set-up and clean-up at various events
