Shopping Services

What is the shopping service?

  • There are two different types of shopping services that are offered by Home Support Services, a Wednesday morning service and a personal service.  Each service is provided in order to give seniors the opportunity to get out and complete errands if they need assistance to do so. 

Wedneday morning shopping service

  • Every Wednesday morning volunteers pick clients up at their homes and take them to get their groceries at the local grocery stores in St. Marys.

What is the cost?

  • The cost for this service is $4.00

Personal Shopping Service

  • If a client would like more assistance with completing shopping errands, they may opt to have a volunteer accompany them on their in town shopping excursion providing assistance wherever necessary.  Volunteers will assist clients with necessary errands such as grocery shopping, going to the post office, pharmacy etc. 

What is the cost?

  • The cost for this service is $4.00 initially with an extra dollar charged for each stop the volunteer makes. 

Who provides the shopping services?

  • The shopping services are provided with the assistance of dedicated volunteers.  Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick clients up at their homes

What do I do if I would like the shopping service?

  • If you are interested in this service, please call us at 284-3272 a few days prior so we can arrange a volunteer to provide this service.

Why does Home Support offer shopping services?

  • This is just another program offered by Home Support Services to promote independent living for the seniors of the St. Marys and area community.  By having assistance with important tasks such as shopping for groceries and other errands, individuals may be able to remain living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
